According to Save the Children’s annual Mothers’ Index, which compares the well-being of mothers and children in 164 countries around the world, Nordic and European countries are amongst the top scoring ones on the list, while African states are at the bottom. The countries which make to the top ten have skilled health professional, have better education for women, can access birth control, have low miscarriage rate, and have longevity. Similarly, the children in these states get an adequate diet, are well educated, have access to clean water, and have a low risk of death.
This data also indicates that there is a whole lot of difference between the health standards of the rich and poor states. The underdeveloped states can learn from these health standards of the top scoring states. With proper funds supplied to their governments, they can also provide better health care to their mothers and children for healthier nations.
